Overview

     Spiti Valley is a cold desert mountain valley located high in the Himalayas in the north-eastern part of the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh.
The name "Spiti" means "The middle land", i.e. the land between Tibet and India.
The valley and surrounding region is one of the least populated regions in India and is the gateway to the northernmost reaches of the nation.Spiti valley is a research and cultural centre for Buddhists.

   Key Monastery and Tabo Monastery, are one of the oldest monasteries in the world and a favourite of the Dalai Lama, are most prominent attractions in Spiti.
Spiti valley is accessible throughout year via Kinnaur from Shimla route on a difficult 412-kilometre-long (256 mi) road.From June till September is probably the best time to visit Spiti by road.The ideal time to visit Spiti is from May to October..

Itinerary

Day 1 : Chandigarh - Narkanda

  • We pick you up from Chandigarh. 
  • We will take a bus for Shimla from here.
  • Drive over the foothills of Himalayas on the winding roads of Shimla amidst Pine forests and apple orchards experiencing a breath of fresh air till you reach Narkanda
  • Dinner at hotel
  • Overnight Stay at Narkanda

Day 2 : Narkanda - Sangla 

  • After breakfast at your hotel, we will continue driving to Sangla (4-5 hrs) where you will check in at your hotel or could also choose to stay in fixed luxury tented accommodation.
  •  After lunch you will be taken on a walk through Kamru and Sangla villages ( 1-2 hrs) and we will visit the beautifully carved old temples and Buddhist monasteries. You will have plenty of opportunity to speak to the local people in these valleys
  • Continuing on the windy roads, we descend to the Sutlej Valley near Rampur. The road meanders on the rock carved picturesque landscape of Kinnaur along the river banks over Indo-Tibet highway till you reach Karcham - the confluence of Sutlej and Baspa rivers, where a huge Dam is constructed for HydroElectric Power generation.
  • We cross the Dam and continue along the banks of Baspa river to enter Sangla Valley - one of the most beautiful valleys of Himalayas.
  • Overnight in luxury tented accommodation / hotel in Kinner in Sangla. 
  • Stay at Sangla

Day 3 : Sangla - Chitkul - Kalpa

  • This morning after breakfast check out the hotel and we will be driving you to Chitkul ( 20 kms, total 1 hrs, each side – 3,450 metres / 11,318 feet.) which is the last village on Indian side on the Indo–Tibetan border.
  • The village of Chitkul is like something from a fairy tale, and you will have a chance to walk slowly around it.The landscapes are stunning, and you will have plenty of time to enjoy them and talk to the local people.
  • We will return to Sangla for lunch in the local restaurants and later the rest of the day is free to relax in the mountain landscape or if you like you can walk to another nearby villages or nature walk.
  • Evening arrive at kalpa and check in hotel.
  • Overnight stay at Kalpa. 

Day 4 : Kalpa - Nako - Tabo

  • Post breakfast we will drive you to Tabo on the way visit the village with your guide and visit the Buddhist monastery related to guru Padmasambhava (a great Buddhist scholar, whose teachings spread to Tibet from India), we will also visit Nako Lake, the residence of His Holiness The Dalai Lama ji
  • After we will drive you to Tabo and en route visit the Gue village which is also the last Indian village on Indo-Tibetan border where we will see see India's own naturally preserved mummy of a Buddhist monk which is about 600 years old, which was discovered here while building the road and continue to Tabo.
  • Reach Tabo and check in to your hotel.
  • In the evening visit the Tabo monastery which is the oldest monastery in the Himalayas. Today we will be entering the beautiful Spiti valley which is also known as the cold desert of the Himalayas (this area is cut from rest of the world due to heavy snow in the winters). 
  • Overnight stay at Tabo.

Day 5 : Tabo - Kibber - Kaza

  • Tabo has a 1021 year old monastery which is also a UNESCO world heritage site.
  • This ancient monastery is rich in Murals, Frescoes and Paintings that tell the story of the Buddhist pantheon.
  • Proceed to kaza early in the morning.Experience the natural bliss in the environment.
  • Visit the key monastery and communicate with the inhabitants.Hospitality extended by the locals is stupendous. 
  • Later, you may visit the Kibber Wildlife Sanctuary and explore the rich fauna and flora of the place. 
  • Return to your guesthouse for an overnight stay
  • Overnight stay at Kaza.

Day 6 : Kaza Sightseeing

  • After visiting all of the sightseeing places in Kaza , mentioned below are a few other things to do in Kaza. Shopping in Kaza,Try some local food, Interact with the locals,Visit cafe's,Enjoy Sunset views.

Day 7 : Kaza - Chandratal Lake

  • Early morning, check out the hotel and transfer to Chandertal Lake, on arrive at Chandertal check in the tent and visit the lake.
  • Overnight stay at Chandratal.

Day 8 : Chandratal Lake - Manali

  • Morning, check-out from the Camp , and start the journey to Manali crossing the Kunzum Pass and Rohtang pass visit on the way and evening arrive in Manali check in hotel,
  • Overnight stay at Manali. 

Day 9 : Manali - Chandigarh

  • Early morning, check-out from the hotel, and you will be assisted and transferred to Chandigarh Airport / Railway station. Reaching Chandigarh, you can continue your journey to onward destination.

Cancellation Policy

In any case of cancellation of booking, it must inform in advance to “VIA FERRATA ADVENTURES SOLUTIONS PVT LTD” by writing

Cancellation will be effective only on the date and time of receipt of cancellation letter.

The following cancellation charges shall apply as per the period of cancellation terms. 

  • Once the booking is done and advance paid, minimum 25% of the package cost to be deducted.
  • From 30 days up to 15 days before of service 50 % of total cost will be deducted.
  • From 14 days up to  service starts total cost will be deducted.
  • In case of NO SHOW, 100% of the total cost will be deducted.
